How to eat healthy and lose weight is actually pretty simple.  Before I go into the details of this eating plan I would like to give you some background information.
This eating plan is based on the results of scientific research from one of the largest nutritional studies ever conducted.  This study concluded that the people who consumed the most animal based foods had more chronic diseases than those who ate plant based diets.
It found that the people who ate plant based diets were healthier and avoided chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

Most of the population believes that you have to eat meat to get the protein your body needs.  This is also not true.  The World Health Organization and the USDA say that we need 5-6% of our calories to come from protein.

On average, vegetables have from 20-50% of their calories from protein and fruits have about 5%.  Beans, seeds and grains have about 10-25%.  As you can see, following a plant based diet gives you adequate protein.
Another false nutritional belief is that we need dairy products to provide our calcium needs.  One of the best sources of calcium is in green leafy vegetables.   You will get more than enough calcium on this diet.
