Bach flower essences 

 

were developed by Dr. Edward Bach during the 1930's. Instead of treating the physical condition of a person, the Bach flower essences are used to treat emotional imbalances and negative emotions. In all, there were 38 different Bach flower essences developed, and they are used to treat a wide assortment of individual emotional disturbances, such as the essence of holly being used to treat hatred, envy, and jealousy.

Bach Flower Essences Treat Emotional Imbalance


Dr. Bach believed that in order for the body to heal properly, that person's illness needed to be addressed at the mental level, and that most of our ailments are rooted in emotional unrest. As he developed the Bach flower essences, he investigated the emotional effects of different flowers and plants on a person's mental attitude, and created the Bach flower essences that are used all over the world today.

Bach Flower Essences Do Not Contain Plant Material


Bach flower essences are a unique form of treatment that incorporates the healing and positive emotional powers of plants. They do not contain plant or flower material, but provide healing remedies through the plant's essence, or natural energies. This method of treatment is safe for all ages, and may even be given to pregnant or nursing mothers without fear of incidental side effects. The side effects of Bach flower essences are only that the patient's emotional attitude is improved, and mood swings are put into greater balance.

Bach Flower Essences Come From Ordinary Plants


Bach flower essences are not solely derived from flowers, as many trees have emotionally curative powers as well. The aspen, for instance, is used to treat a fear of unknown things, and elm treatments help to correct the the attitude of being overwhelmed by responsibility. In many cases, the bud or flower of the tree is used, such the chestnut bud being used to treat the common emotional ailment of not being able to learn from previous mistakes. Even such common trees as pine and oak have a place in the Bach flower essences.

Bach Flower Essences Are Versatile


Bach flower essences may be taken individually, or combined to treat multiple symptoms. It is not at all uncommon for a person to require three or four different Bach flower essences in order to get the most benefits, and there are cases of seven or more Bach flower essences being used at the same time.
